ZigZu is India's first AI Reading Coach for children ages 4 to 8. The app listens as a child reads English picture storybooks aloud and provides real-time pronunciation feedback in Indian English. Built by ANA PlayLabs Global Private Limited, ZigZu uses speech recognition tuned for Indian children's voices, includes a library of 200+ levelled storybooks, and runs free on Android and iOS. ZigZu addresses the reading gap identified by ASER 2023, where only 42.8% of Indian Class 5 students can read a Class 2 level text in English. Unlike passive video apps or generic phonics drills, ZigZu requires the child to read aloud and corrects the words they actually miss, the way a good human coach would.
